Building Websites

I've played around with websites over the years. I had my first site a long, long time ago when there was a free site called Homestead.com, which to my surprise still exists. Then I've had numerous blogs. But I've never just simply sat own and built websites.

Recently I made a clean, simple site for my wife's travel agent business (she specializes in all things Disney). Here's the site I made for her with Weebly. And check out my own Weebly site below too. If you like what you see and would like for me to build one for you, please contact me!

More news from the day job

Since I last blogged about this job with Domicile/ Bold/ Governors Club, I've been doing new things that I've never done before. I designed my first print ad this week, which may or may not ever see it into print. I'm also managing the Facebook pages for 3 companies, a new thing for me. And the writing that I'm doing is much different than what I've done in the past.

My Weebly site with Day Job samples
When I interviewed for this job, I was told that real estate writing is very flowery and was asked if could could that type of writing. I think my response was something like, 'I can write anything'. So I've been writing descriptions of houses and using words like 'charming', 'gorgeous,' and 'spacious' which should ideally help to sell the homes.

One of the main things I appreciate about this job is that I am pretty much left alone to do my work. And speaking of work, I'm using my Weebly site to keep a running list of articles that I've written. Click on the photo to find links to these articles.

**July 22, 2015 update: I switched up my website a little, so the link above won't work. See my work samples here.

New job, New phase, Still freelancing!!

I've been freelancing for 2 1/2 years and have loved it.  During these years I have also been a stay-at-home dad.  Adding the full year that I was at home before I started freelancing means I was able to spend a total of 3 1/2 years with my kids (including 3 amazing lazy summers).  Freelancing allowed me the luxury of staying home with them, a privilege that many parents, especially dads, never have.  I've been able to be home when they get off the bus and when they have days off school.  However, that is all about to change (for a good reason).

I recently got a full time job, which means I'll no longer be working for myself (at least not full time).  And while I am excited by this change which marks a new phase in my life, it also means I have to put on pants and leave the house!

Everything happened super fast - I applied for the job this past Thursday, was contacted by email within an hour or so after applying for an interview, had the interview Friday morning, and was offered the job the same afternoon.  And I start the job this coming Tuesday.  Talk about head spinning!  I'm still trying to adjust to the fact that I'm going back to the 9 to 5 routine.

My new job is as the Marketing Coordinator for a local family of companies which does real estate and construction and even has a restaurant.  The different parts of this company are Bold Real Estate, Domicile Realty, Governors Club, and Bean & Barrel

I will still be doing some freelance work in a very limited capacity, so if you need something done, let me know.  Find me on Upwork (formerly oDesk) or contact me through my Weebly site for a quote.
