About Me

In middle school, the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) held an essay contest in my town.  I naively wrote and entered an essay into the contest.  I can't remember what it was about, but it won a prize (I think I got a certificate, maybe even a trophy).  The point of this story is that since I was about 14, I've known that I was fairly competent at stringing words together.

Fast forward some number of years to me now as a stay-at-home dad and freelance writer.  These days I get paid to string word together (but not to raise my kids, which is actually the much harder job).

My professional career began in early 2013 when I started worked for Valeria (the sister-in-law of a friend of my wife - complicated I know, but that's how it goes) at Head Industries.  For 11 months, I produced anywhere from 50 to 90 original, researched articles each month for Valeria's content business.  They were all on the subjects of mental health and substance abuse, which was fairly depressing, but the sheer volume of work helped me to build my writing chops.

Since I stopped working for her, I have been doing my best to make freelance writing enjoyable as well as financially rewarding.  I have had lots of clients over the past few years and have written on a wide range of topics including autism, table saws, trampolines, nutrition, teaching kids to read, and mixed drinks.  I have done loads of website content creation, SEO articles, original blogs, ghostwriting, and even some academic editing over the years.
